List of Meetings

Meetings

Although other meetings have been held on the public communication of astronomy, the first “real” initiative that belongs in the series of CAP meetings was Terry Mahoney’s conference, “Communicating Astronomy” in Tenerife in 2002. The second, and somewhat more visible, meeting was the Communicating Astronomy with the Public conference, held in Washington DC in 2004, and arranged by Chuck Blue from NRAO. The third meeting was at ESO Headquarters in Munich, Germany, in 2005. A Working Group was created in 2006 to ensure formally that the line of CAP meetings would continue every second year. The fourth CAP meeting was held in Athens, Greece, 2007 . This meeting played a central role in the planning of the International Year of Astronomy 2009.
